Read Me.

The benefits of Starving- A fantastic read for those struggling on the arduous road to recovery from Anorexia Nervosa (AN). This article describes a biological underpinning of why, perhaps, it is so difficult to let go of what can become too familiar. Discussing the role of 5-HT in regulating appetite it provides insights into the psychological effects of reducing serotonin in AN and why we can become more anxious and feel less in control as we begin to 'get better'.  I would like to open a discussion surrounding such anxiety: How can one begin to rationalise making themselves more anxious and more prone to dysphoric states through 'recovery'-surely it would just be easier to give in to the less anxiety provoking option?
